It’s true. Literally everyone loves brunch. This isn’t a statistic necessarily, but how could you not love brunch? There’s something for everyone, whether you like savory, sweet, or a combination of the two. Brunch screams weekends, bacon, and good coffee, as well as alluding to that amazing post-brunch nap.
Brunch is often a group affair. There’s nothing like gathering in the kitchen with some family or friends and cooking up a big brunch to enjoy together. This is why a charcuterie board is the perfect vessel for a brunch. It makes it easy to gather around and share, while also giving those incredibly aesthetic brunch vibes that we all love.
With this in mind, when planning for a friend's surprise birthday brunch, I immediately knew a charcuterie board was in order. We were planning to feed a group of about 12, and needed to be able to construct the board quickly, while she was away. So, I headed to Trader Joe’s to grab all the necessities for a brunch charcuterie board. I find that Trader Joe’s has plenty of unique and quality products at great prices, so it was perfect for this creation.
Creating the Brunch Charcuterie Board
Some of the main ingredients are pictured above. I chose mini bagels for the main carb, because they require virtually no prep time. Not pictured are the cinnamon rolls, bacon, hash browns, and orange juice that were also served.
After the grocery run, I began to build.
I started with the bagels and built out from there. When making charcuterie boards, I find it easiest to lay a middle piece and then build outward. From there, I added on a few types of fruit, two types of cream cheese (this Trader Joe’s Hot Cocoa Inspired Cream Cheese Spread was a huge hit), some cinnamon rolls (the ones that didn’t fit onto the board had their own board nearby).
And voila! The board was finished with time to spare before the birthday girl came back for her surprise. We laid extra bagels, cinnamon rolls, fruit, bacon, and hashbrowns on boards and in bowls around the main centerpiece.
As we all gathered around the table, guests grazed on the board for an hour or two as we chatted and caught up. It was a huge hit, and a wonderful way to feed a group and share a meal in celebration of a dear friend’s birthday.

Not only is this board beautiful, but it also has a wide variety of ingredients so that anyone can find something they love to eat. We also love how she mixes up the carbs. Try: bagels, croissants, pastries, pancakes, waffles, cinnamon rolls, donuts or donut holes, muffins, or french toast, the possibilities are endless!
Last, we have this amazing pancake board from The BakerMama. We love that she uses different bowls, jars, and even a mini skillet to make serving easy. This is a practical way to still get that charcuterie board feel, but keep ingredients separated when necessary.
