There are a couple schools of thought when it comes to picking crackers for charcuterie board: one is that crackers should be as simple as possible, allowing the meats, cheeses, olives, nuts, mustards and sauces to shine. The other is they should be as flavorful and interesting as the rest of the board.

Here are some ideas for both camps.

Simple Crackers for Charcuterie

Carr’s Table Water Crackers

Arguably the simplest cracker available, Carr’s Table Water Crackers are the OG base for strongly flavored meats, jellies and cheese tray favorites. They have a light, crispy crunch with a super subtle flavor. Spread some warm brie cheese on top of one of these round delights and add a dollop of jalapeno jelly for a perfect creamy, sweet and savory treat.

Marini Italian Classic Breadsticks

There’s something that’s just more fun about a breadstick. It conjures thoughts of childhood, (double) dipping into a bowl of some gooey, cheesy treat or right into a jar of Nutella. The Marini Italian Breadsticks area great, simple choice that can be used to dunk into sweet or savory dips, mustards or ultra-soft cheeses. You can even dunk them in honey and use the breadstick to drizzle honey over your next bite.

We found this dip recipe that would be a perfect pairing. With a name like crack dip, we have a feeling you’ll need a couple packages of breadsticks (and might need to make a double batch of dip)!

Ka-Me Gluten Free Rice Crackers

A nice gluten-free cracker, Ka-Me’s Rice Crackers are about as simple as they come. These traditional Japanese snacks are a wonderful base for cream cheese and salmon or Asian-inspired fare.  This strong, crunchy cracker will hold up under a nice-sized pile of goodies.

Flavorful Crackers for Charcuterie Board

Rustic Bakery Artisan Crisps | Tart Cherry, Cacao Nib& Almond

Rustic Bakery has delicious options for charcuterie crackers, flatbreads and baked goods. For an option that packs as much crunch as it does flavor, try the Tart Cherry, Cacao Nib & Almond Artesian Crisps. Perfect to pair with a simple goat cheese or other mild cheeses, the focus will be on the cracker with this choice.

Craize Coconut Toasted Corn Chips

These light and coconut-forward crackers are a sweet (but not too sweet) option to liven up any fruit and cheese board. Make a dessert board with fruit, Nutella and sweet cheese spreads or load up some spicy sausage and sharp cheese as a contrast to the sweet coconut base. Either way you go, these are a tasty alternative to a mild-flavored cracker.

Make Your Own | Spicy Ranch Crackers for charcuterie board

This simple recipe from Eating on a Dime will kick up a cupboard basic: Saltines. Combine some strong spices, including red pepper flakes, to make the cracker your board’s flavor star. Once you try this recipe, get creative with mixing up different herbs and spices to make whatever flavored cracker your heart desires.
